About EnTech
EnTech is a nonprofit organization that promotes engineering and technology through after-school programs offering students of various ages the opportunity to participate on one of our FIRST robotics teams, and through our outreach programs.
The core of our organization is FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) Team 281 - the GreenVillains, the oldest team in South Carolina.
But through the years we have expanded our program to reach more students.
We added a FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team (originally FIRST Vex Challenge) in 2005 and a FIRST LEGO League (FLL) team in 2006 to allow younger students the opportunity to participate sooner and more fully.
Then in 2010, in order to accommodate more interested students, we added a second FLL team.
The motto of the GreenVillains is "infiltrating young minds one robot at a time", and we pursue that mission through our outreach which includes hosting and assisting with engineering and robotics camps, building and maintaining a greeter robot for a very special elementary school with an engineering focus, mentoring rookie FIRST teams, and other community outreach.
Our teams meet in the Waggoner Building at Greenville Technical College in Greenville, South Carolina.
Unlike most FIRST teams, EnTech's teams are composed of students from many schools.
In fact, our programs are open to all Greenville County students - public, private, and home-schooled.
We are extremely grateful to our sponsors, especially Michelin, which has been a very generous sponsor for many years, and Greenville Technical College, which gives us a home.
We are also thankful for the time and guidance of our mentors and volunteers.
